Inspector Gadget (Marked Features Remix)

19 10 2011

I made a new track, remixing the Inspector Gadget theme. Most of what I did is cutting, looping and some effects. Again, this was made using Reaper.

Enjoy :).

For the Yellow Barnstormers

Joseph got new music toys (Native Instruments). And played with them.

New Track

26 02 2011

Still using my standby DAW Reaper, I’ve been exploring some of the sound packages available from Native Instruments. I’ve also been trying with each new track to develop some sense of composition, transitions between themes, introduction and recapitulation and things like that. Fun sounds are cool, but turning fun sounds into a story, with arc, development and texture… that’s something I’d like to develop the ability to do more.

Meanwhile, philosophizing aside, here’s the new track, called New Waves (more available at SoundCloud).

Me and Moderat

21 11 2010

It’s been awhile since I’ve posted here on the blog, but I’ve got an IDM treat for you today (followed by a new track by me, inspired by them). Moderat is the collaborative project of Apparat and Modeselektor, two German artists based out of Berlin. The self-titled album Moderat, by Moderat, is pretty sensational. You definitely have to give it a chance to develop, particularly so you can hear the synth of Rusty Nails. It’s so cool. My favorites include:

A New Error

And now for my track, called ModerAAAATTTT:

Minutes, Seconds; Another in-house creation

24 09 2010

Here is another track I’ve put together, a little chiller than the prior. I have figured out how to manipulate every effect with its own envelope track in Reaper, and so consequently have been playing with all kinds of swooshes and the like. But most of them don’t sound very good, so I remove them. Regardless, this is the outcome of trying to build a piece around a percussion beat of down-up-up-down-up-up-down-up and repeat. I like that beat. I hope you enjoy.

The pic above is a screenshot of my DAW (digital audio workstation) called Reaper, for this track.

Dance to the jams, from yours truly

5 09 2010

I’ve been getting really into mixing my own tracks, and decided to try to make something in the vein of Duck Sauce’s Barbara Streisand. This is the result. It’s heavy on synths, quirky percussive sounds, has a classic sample from MC5 and a clip from Orbital. It hope it gets your blood flowing. Made on Reaper.

Dtrenz: music maker, Ann Arbor resident, electro-gadget connoisseur

21 06 2010

Recently, I’ve been playing with a keyboard synthesizer, MIDI, the music software Reaper, downloading instruments and effects (VSTs, VSTi’s, AUs) and trying out making my own stuff. A lot of why I’m even able to do it is that my neighbor was awesome enough to show me the ropes and get me started. He has some sweet toys and has made some of his own music, so I thought I’d post about it. He has a Soundcloud page where you can listen to and download a bunch of his music:

My favorite track is called dark dawn. I don’t know how to classify it exactly. I think Jon thought it was kind of like instrumental hip-hop. I really like how he assembles the sounds, making it rich, complex, but not overdone. Plus, I need to ask him how he got that crackly effect that starts the track. It is sweet!

I posted “dark dawn” in the box, or you can download/listen to it on his soundcloud site.
